From burning one to Burnout One. You remember, at the beginning of your ministry, you were so full of fire and zeal. And now some of you are hanging on by a thread, at the tip of burnout, if you are not there already. Studies have shown that when people are headed into burnout or in the throes of burnout it is very difficult to maintain self-control.
“A 1996 Promise Keepers survey at one of their stadium events revealed that over 50% of the men in attendance were involved with pornography within one week of attending the event.
57% of pastors say that addiction to pornography is the most sexually damaging issue to their congregation.
More than 70% of men from 18 to 34 visit a pornographic site in a typical month.”
You see, burnout leads to depression and many other dangerous activities.
I learned that the Father has placed an anointing on my life full of power and purpose to tell the world about Him. If He has called you, He has placed the same power, purpose, and anointing on your life as well. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will give us power. Now we must learn how to walk in His power and authority.
I believe pastors have turned the power switch of God off. Meaning you are not listening to God or following His directives, but you are listening to the people and trying to appease them, more than you are listening to God; running off the power of the demands of the people. You are trying to fix everyone else’s problems and can’t fix your own.
If you are not careful, you are going to sabotage yourselves and fall prey to the devil. The word sabotage comes from the French word sab-o – ter meaning to botch. Consequently, many have fallen prey to tricks and schemes of the devil and there are some that are still trying to hold on and botching their lives and the ministry. It has been said that over 1400 people leave the ministry every month. For the simple reason, they did not recognize the symptoms of burnout. One thing I have learned is to give yourself permission to change according to the will of the Father, and the season of life you are in right now.
Assisting you to get through the maze of ministry.
